Immerse Yourself In The Spanish Language
Learn Spanish At Your Own Pace (It's Not A Race)
Learning Spanish, as with learning anything, is a slow process. There are plenty of programs out there that claim to teach you Spanish fast. Some even claim to teach you Spanish in as fast as five minutes. There are plenty of things you can do fast. You can download the Spanish lessons onto your iPod fast and you can subscribe to Loquella's online language lessons fast. However, true learning does not happen fast. Anyone that has tried learning Spanish "fast" will probably tell you, it doesn't work. And if it does, it doesn't stick.
So what do you do when you realize that you can't learn Spanish fast? You get to work.
Once you know that it's going to be a process that takes a while, maybe months, even years, then the true work can begin. So to help you along on your slow process to learning Spanish, we have come up with a list of some things you can do to "immerse" yourself in the language, even if you never leave your own home town.
Learn Spanish Through Music
If you've ever spent a bit of time with a teenager who grew up in a non-English speaking country you know that although they may not be fluent in English, they sure do know the words to a lot of American pop songs. They may not know what the words mean, but they sing along none the less.
Once you've accepted the fact that learning Spanish may take some time, I recommend that you start enjoying the process. One of the best ways to enjoy the process of learning the new language is to listen to Spanish language music. There are so many popular Latin artists producing amazing music, it's a shame not to listen even if you aren't learning Spanish.
Below we've listed a couple links to artists and resources featured on iTunes that you can check out if you're not sure where to begin. We hope you find some great tunes!

Sticking With It
Once you've gotten into the rhythm of the Latin music, practicing your Spanish a couple times a week will greatly improve your skills as well. It's not necessarily essential to practice for a set period of time each day. Instead, try setting a goal to practice every other day, even if it's only for 10 minutes at a time. Continuously engaging with the Spanish language will help make it "stick", and one day you will probably realize that the time you have put into it was worth it, as well as fun.
Loquella offers two ways to learn Spanish, each way using the same method and material, just with different media for using the lessons. Loquella offers an online language program that allows you to practice your Spanish online through a Flash based program that lets you move through the lessons at your own pace. Loquella also offers Spanish lessons that can be downloaded to your iPod or iPhone. These Spanish lessons are also self paced, but with the added convenience of allowing you to take them with you anywhere you go.
We hope you will find the process of learning Spanish fun and rewarding, even though it might not necessarily be fast!
